Examples of our work

Flash Web Animation: Online course, Introduction to Flash Web Animation, delivered at Cuyamaca Community College online and hybrid. (http://www.cuyamaca.edu/jeff.sale/gd222/ and http://www.edworlds.com/edmoodle/

The Discover Data Portal For Educators: The Discover Data Portal provides educators access to real-world scientific data pre-processed to provide more convenient access and use.

TeacherTECH Community Portal For Educators: The TeacherTECH Community Portal provides teachers training and access to a full-featured course management system and support to deliver their course fully on-line. The TTCP is one of the largest and most active Moodle installations in California, hosting over 400 courses being delivered to over 8000 students. (http://education.sdsc.edu/teachertech/community/ttmoodle/)

Earthquake Country! Interactive 3D animations for Earth Science Education: These animations are the result of a collaboration with Dr. Pat Abbott, reknowned seismologist and earth science educator, developing an educational video to be distributed throughout K-12 schools, libraries, and museums in southern California . (http://www.edcenter.sdsu.edu/ssc/3d/).

The Tijuana River Watershed Image Atlas: Interactive image atlas of the Tijuana River Watershed provides researchers and the general public a geo-referenced graphical overview of the geopolitical and social issues relevant to the international border region. Developed in collaboration with SDSU’s Institute For Regional Studies of the Californias. (http://education.sdsc.edu/edportal/atlas/).

The Regional WorkBench Consortium’s 3D Regional Canvas for the Californias: The web-based version of the Regional WorkBench Consortium's 3D Regional Canvas of the Californias  is intended to provide free access to 3D visualization tools from anywhere in the world for decision-makers and educators in a wide range of disciplines including regional planning, water quality management, sustainable development, and homeland security. The primary goal of this project is to provide educators, researchers, and the public the ability to quickly and easily access regional data from both sides of the US-Mexico border within a geographical context, in particular the Californias. (http://www.edworlds.com/rwb/index.html).

Dynamics of a Plinian Eruption: This animation is the result of a collaborative effort with Prof. Vic Camp at SDSU for the educational web site "How Volcanoes Work" (http://www.geology.sdsu.edu/how_volcanoes_work/). It depicts a cross-sectional view an explosively erupting volcano, typical of a so-called Plinian eruption. A variety of pressure surfaces exist within the magma column beneath the erupting volcano, and within the eruption column above the volcano. The section below describes the nature of these pressure surfaces and explains the dynamic processes associated with the eruption model. ( http://www.sci.sdsu.edu/volcano/)

Internet Mentoring Project: a personalized online forum to allow pre-service mathematics teacher education students an opportunity to mentor middle school students remotely and asynchronously.  Using Perl cgi’s and a flat file database on a Solaris machine (http://www.edcenter.sdsu.edu/forum/)

The Case Creator: a video case creation tool for teacher education. This is a collaborative development effort between San Diego State University's Center for Research on Math and Science Education and the Syracuse University School of Teacher Education. The program allows the teacher educator to import up to five videos and their corresponding transcripts, synchronize the videos with the transcripts, and then search the transcripts and cue the video to the desired search result, add bookmarks and annotations to the videos which you can save and share with your students. Create an issues matrix of pedagogical issues of particular importance to your students. (http://www.sci.sdsu.edu/mathvideo/cc/)
